Angel

Angel's first mom, Sohini Mazumder, came with her brother Soham to see how much Angel has grown.
Angel recognised them both with happy jumps and kisses.

Gaby and her friends

And then came Deepraj Danaikaj, Norbu T Bhutia, Lochan Gukung and Gaby. They really loved my interior design. Thanks guys!
But they missed a guitar, so I promised I will get one to next weekend.

Sohini

Sohini Mazumder, our dog Angel's first mom, came with her brother Soham Mazumder and their friend Sonmitra Mondal.
They loved the Swedish waffle with strawberry jam and vanilla icecream.

Dancing

Leya and Nicholas are dancing between the customers.

Outdoor bed

For lazy days at the café! I love the lantern in the tree.
So cozy in the evening!

Garbage

We have a garbage war with the old lady across the street. Here you can see that she has swept her garbage to our side.
Apparently her kids have left her there since she is so mean. Unusual for India, I must say.

Lucy

Gaby and her friends decided to rescue this puppy from the street. Her name is Lucy and she is so cute!

My handsome husband is dressed for success!

Phone

These men are installing the telephone land line. So more cables are added in our backyard.

Looking for something?

On the side of the fridge I've put this sign.
Our guests can put up their signs if they want a travel companion, work, love, friends.
As long as it's legal everything is possible!

Kid guests

We've made a play corner for our visiting kids. The kids will also get crayons and a picture to paint.

Umbrella

The other day I bought outdoor furnitures and today it took four men half an hour to make the hole in the table for the umbrella. This beautiful umbrella Leya and I bought in Jaipur.

Our first paying customers

I was the first paying customer since Nicholas made me pay for my daily Red Bull. But our first paying customer outside the family was Miguel Villar from Argentina.
He was in Delhi for shopping and is leaving for Spain tonight.
He eat Nicholas tuna sub and ordered one more. Yeah!

Emergency kit

My favourite pharmacist is making an emergency kit we will keep in the café.
Paracetamol, tablets for migraine, vomit, lose motion, antiseptic Dettol and plaster.
A kit I think all restaurants should have.

The day before

Yesterday was the day before the small opening and Nicholas felling was:
Why, why, why?
Despite the heat he has a sense of humour.

Paper mess

When we came home yesterday our living room was transformed into a paper mess.
Angel had shredded a whole toilet paper roll.
Sometimes it's difficult to like her.

Sari toilet

I found these beautiful vintage saris at a filthy toilet in a warehouse in Main Bazar.
It can only happen in India.

Pool

After more than a year of searching for a pool we finally have found a roof top pool in our area.
Fantastic!

Grilled

Now it's grill season, big times, in Sweden, but we can buy grilled food in the streets.

Elevator sign

This is a hilarious sign in the elevator at the metro at Delhi Haat.
Who can be relaxed when the elevator is stuck?
And I love the FOUR phone numbers if option 1 or 2 doesn't work. Everyone knows no one is answering a land line in India.
At least they are apologizing in beforehand. So sweet!

Bling bling street

Our neighbour street was closed, so Leya and I took a look what was going on.Here is the engine keeping this show running. In the end was a temple for the Goddess Durga and the kids were very interested in Leya.

Still home

Still in Delhi in the heat and dust.
Nicholas has decided to open the café now, so the holiday has to wait.

And there was a huge riot last night. A celebrity guru started to hunger strike against the corruption and 50 000 of his followers joined him.
The police stopped the demonstration and arrested him. Eventually they released him and he went back to his ashram, that is located on the way to Rishikesh, if I'm correctly informed, so the traffic would have been heavy today.
Read more about it here.

Rishikesh

Tomorrow we are going to Rishikesh for a few days.
We need a holiday and breathe fresh mountain air.

Knitting

Felt creative today and started to knitt on a few new ideas with this wonderful recycled, hand spun silk yarn. More colours are on the way from the silk district in Bihar.

Sleeping beauty

This was the position 10 min ago.
Now she has three friends over for a festival in her room.

Paparazzi

I paparazzid Leya and Mice, one of her waiter friends.

6/01/2011

The Times of India

Someone told Nicholas that he saw Leya in the Times of India yesterday in an add for Catmoss Kids Wear.
Cool! I will try to find that add.

Crib

Today I built a crib in Leyas room using nails and a pair of stockings.
First came Leya's friends Kim and Sim.
Then came the siblings Drew and China.

Locks

In our bazar there is a small shop that is selling very cool locks, door handles and door knockers.

Actress

Now we have a neighbour that is an actress.
Gaby got the part as Dr Eleonor Diggby and the script is full of long, difficult to say, dinosaurie names.
Congrats Gaby and don't forget us when you reach the top!

5/30/2011

Sheila Ki Jawani

Leya is doing a Sheila Ki Jawani, that is a popular song here in India right now.
Here is the original.
And here is Leya in her night gown and Angel as audience.

Mother's day

Yesterday we celebrated the Swedish Mother's day.
I got a nice drawing, cake, hugs and kisses from my lovely daughter.
